The Houghtons (medium)

Short:

**5 and 7 mile are same until Britannia pub bridge**
Leave on University drive and turn right at lights towards A45, then right at skate park, across bridge behind The Ark
Follow river to canoe Center then across bridge and down Bedford road toward Britannia pub.
**5 and 7 mile split point **
After Britannia bridge turn right at metal gate and then right towards canal then RIGHT back under tunnel under bridge
Follow canal to Washlands then LEFT clockwise around lake to Weston mill sluice
**5 mile and 7 mile re join at this point**
*NB please be aware there can be horses in field by lock*
Cross sluice gate and bear right across to lock and thru Weston mill lane towards A45 bridge
Cross A45 bridge and LEFT at lake footpath, then 2nd left into Brundall close, left Cavendish drive, left Denbigh road, thru alley to Magnolia close,then keep ahead through to Honeysuckle / Wisteria way all the way to end.
Left at roundabout Billing road, left Watersmeet, left Rushmere road, right after Old Scouts Rugby Club along lake, then right along Bedford road and back to club

 

Medium:

**Same as 5 mile route to split point**
Ahead after Britannia pub, Turn left behind warehouses, then right at roundabout on Liliput Road and ahead Thomas Dachser way.
Left on bike path before Decathlon, then right up grass footpath into Gt Houghton village via kissing gate/horse field
Across High street then ahead to Cross street, RIGHT on to Cherry Tree Lane to end.
Continue ahead into field and AHEAD into next field (NB is rutted and boggy).  AHEAD across track to small footbridge (cow sign in field) and thru kissing gate
Carefully cross A428 then footpath across field, slight RIGHT across old Bedford road to footpath in field. Bear right , then over stile and ahead to next kissing gate into second field
At metal gate, Left down field to bottom and left after kissing gate towards washlands
Right along washlands embankment to sluice gate at Weston mill
**5 mile and 7 mile re join at this point – same as 5 mile route from here
