Seven Marathons In Seven Days
Running a marathon is a challenge in itself but try running seven, back to back, in a week, on the same course. Well that's what Northampton Road Runners superstar John Eales did in the final week of October.
After a plod around Snowden on the Saturday, yes that's right, John ran the Snowden Marathon two days before this crazy challenge, he was off to Kidderminster. NRR friends were waiting back in Northampton as the updates filtered through on Facebook.
It all began on Monday 26th October with a sub-five hour finish, John's fastest of the week. Day two took six miles for the legs to get going but he got round in one piece and amazingly number three felt good.
To be first runner home is a big boost and that was day four's achievement as the scales tipped to the home straight. Number five and six breezed by and the final day approached. John described the final day as a bit of a nightmare, his right ankle locked after 9 miles he managed to get back to HQ after 13 miles all ready to call it a day.
So many people shouted words of encouragement, "Shut up take these pills and get back out there!" was the rallying cry. John hobbled finally returning home in 9:35:14.
The times listed below really don't matter in the slightest, after spending over 41 hours running over 183 miles is an amazing achievement in itself. A journey of true grit and determination to achieve an amazing goal.
The worrying thing, John is considering the Thames Meander Marathon on Sunday.
Well done John, an inspiration to us all.
