Northampton Half Marathon
A huge turnout from Northampton Road Runners, running, marshaling and cheering, made the Northampton Half Marathon a special event for everyone involved.
The fantastic Northampton Half Marathon hosted its third event on Sunday 6th September.
The day was special for everyone thanks to a local field from all clubs in the county and huge support from the town’s community cheering the field on and great marshals from the running community giving up their day to make the race go smoothly.
This year runners were treated to another new and improved course which gets better each time. A loop from the town centre and around the Racecourse brought the field back through the start outside the Guildhall again at three miles before heading out of town. The short hop through Brackmills cycle paths gave a flat first half before the hill into Wootton at seven miles. Another climb to Great Houghton before dropping back into Brackmills Country Park and finishing in the beautiful grounds of Delapre Abbey.
Everyone connected with NRR went home with a smile on their faces thanks to some great runs from the 23 members who entered.
Dave Green was first overall, winning the race in a time of 1:14:50 and Sarah Davies-Foxton was 1st lady in 1:27:28. Penny Andrews was second lady and part of the County Champs gold medallists with Jo Windram completing the line up. The men also took silver thanks to Dave’s win, Stu Drummond and Mark Hazle.
There were a few PBs recorded too, Mark Kennedy finished in 1:31:47, Mark Johnson in 1:40 exactly, Gavin Harris 1:41:29 and Charlotte Yarker 1:43:26. Steve Randall also completed his first ever half marathon in a very respectable 1:55:54.
A huge shout out to the marshals and supporters who turned out to cheer everyone on too. The Northampton Half Marathon is really starting to stand out on the race calendar now.
