Wing Cross Country
Well done to the 31 NRR members took on the Wing Cross Country, one of the hardest routes in the series.
After the most amazing theatrical race briefing, the event started with the sounding of a gong.
The two laps around the undulating field avoiding the fresh cowpats was made easier but the rapturous support by the start finish line before the famous stream crossing and out into the countryside. After a few more ups and downs comes the mountain. It's not actually a mountain but it is a long climb from around three miles into the route, if you have enough energy left, the views are amazing.
The route drops down a lovely hill before heading back towards the famous stream which was surprisingly shallow this year.
NRR had three members in the top 12 but it is hard to single out anyone in another amazing team performance.
The only sad note of the day is that hosts Leighton Fun Runners will be administering the league over the next two years which means this event will be missing off the calendar. Where there's hills and mud, there‘s cakes!
