Sharky's 50th Marathon

Sharky hit his milestone 50th Marathon at the weekend.

The event in question was the beautifully named, "Shindig in the Shire" which took place in the Shropshire Hills around the Craven Arms area.

A fairly small field of 32 runners took on the marathon distance which consisted of two identical laps. The course is predominantly on fields and woodland trails.  The wet conditions made for heavy legs especially at mile 21 which takes in a feature known as Fowlers Folly, a quarter of a mile slope which Sharky had to negotiate by pulling himself up on any handy branches or tufts of grass. This made the last 5 miles a very crampy affair which wasn't helped by ankle deep mud so it was a relief to eventually cross the line in 6 hours dead .

A fantastic event put on by How Hard Can It Be events - check out their website for some fantastic races.

Well done to Sharky, a true inspiration to us all.
